Scott Jackson threatened to come into town all week so I’ve been waiting with baited breath to see when and if he’d show. I got us tickets for a play on Friday. It was a play of Judy Blume’s Forever. He was entirely uninterested. (Maybe boys just don’t have the vivid memories of the impact of this book. It wasn’t just the sex aspects, even tho that was huge. It was more the endless page after page of longing and breathing and wanting. I remember usually reading this book in a group and each girl screaming, “oh! Read page 32!”) So anyways he didn’t come to town Friday so I tagged along with Ben and Gary. It turned out I had a ton of friends in the play and later ended up hanging out with the cast. I have been out of the theatre geek circle for about 12 years and it was amazing to be a group of people that hammy. It was most fervent contest for attention I’ve entered in years. Obviously it was a total blast and I’m desperate to go try out for a play and reconnect with my inner 15 year old. The star of the show was named Ricky and he is the most blue eyed dreamboat who weighs about 90 pounds and sports an exquisite Ice Castles haircut, so obviously I’m in love with him. Actually I think I’m prone to fall in love with anyone named Ricky. So Scott rolled into town (not at noon as promised) around 2ish just in time to enjoy the shittiest weather in history. So I tried vaguely to show him a good time but he was delirious from the road and the weather was so shitty and TV is just so easy to watch. I did manage to bring him to the worst brunch ever held. I’ve been to some bad brunches but this was so painfully phoned in it was embarrassing. Then he was exposed to a drunk MP. After, I took him to a neighbourhood restaurant for a normal meal, but they had changed the whole menu last week to being a 50 dollar a plate affair. Of course, they didn’t really improve the food much. And we were supposed to go to a fashion show for the White Ball after, but it was snowing and miserable and neither of us wanted to brave it. The final indignity was that we went to BoJ’s for breakfast to cash in on those cherry biscuits and they didn’t have them. (But they didn’t say the limited time was ended, they just acted like I was a nutcase. So the odyssey begins…) To sum up, I’m pretty sure Scott’ll never set foot in NC again. But also it was a blast to have him in town.
Comments:
Wow on the cherry biscuits. I wish they would trickle on down to Texas. We finally have places that sell decent chicken biscuits, but I get tired of picking out the feathers.
