I went to Tennessee to visit a different printing company. Which was enlightening and awesome. Here is a building that was next door and amazing: ![]() Most striking about Tennessee is that even tho I was only about 2 hours away from Asheville, the tenor of the place was so different. The McCain't signs gave way to the McCain signs. And I saw a bumper sticker that said " TN for Jesus. Not Obama." What does that even mean? That McCain is Jesus? (2) comments
Lately: In current news it's snowing here today. What the fuck? It's only October. Also, my puppy has to get a cyst cut off tomorrow. Freak! Last weekend we did the corn maze. I'm glad we decided to do it every 2 years instead of every year. Really makes you miss it more. ![]() It's really perfectly timed. At exactly the second I think to myself, "Ok, I'm over it" it's pretty much over. This year they expanded it by adding all these phoned in Halloween props. ![]() After we went back to Ben and Gary's (awesome deck) house for BBQ (from 12 Bones, where Obama ate) and had a cornbread contest. ![]() Todd was annoyed that someone baked their cornbread on the premises and tried to level the playing field. I forgot to add that at one point we saw Art Ale...whatever from Everclear in Portland. He is a total parody of himself. Actually I thought Scott was kidding when he said it was really him. In other news, I am going to have to start my SB diet 2 weeks all over again. Last night I went to a reception opening the new culinary building at AB Tech. And obvs I had to eat everything in sight. God it was good. And I had a scotch egg for the first time. They talk about them on my laptop lunch group but I'd never seen one before. It was a scotch quail egg. It was like a little fried ball of breakfast. (0) comments Wednesday, October 01, 2008
Sooooooooo Portland. Which I've probably forgotten all useful details about. Since Megan divorced me I got a different flight and got in at noon which was good for special Jackson bonding time. Since it was night one KTK got out of babyjail and we went for mexican food and margaritas. I think we were magically drunk even before that. Anyway Jenny found us and we had many deleted scenes at the Slammer. ![]() The next day Jeremy forced me to choke down a vegan bagel (totally delish!) and drag Scott and me around on several odysseys. The most important place was this asian grocery store that featured little tiny food. Obviously we should have bought it all b/c it's incredible. The best/worst part is that you don't know what set you're getting until you get it. At some point Scott had to work again and me and Jeremy spent most of our time looking at scooter related items, or stuffing our fat faces. We got to go to Gretchen's which I thought was fucking awesome and he thought was only ok. And we found this great other place at which we ate twice. The second time I ate there I had an artichoke dip sandwich. No seriously. We also ate a lot of pizza. I forced everyone to go to A'pizza Scholls b/c Anthony Bourdain liked it. Seriously it's in the top 5 pizzas I've ever had in America. ![]() The second best part of A'pizza Scholls is that KTK and Matt and Wade came out. Also while there I convinced KTK to have a cook out for me. And there were both ribs AND antipasto there. ![]() Donna wasn't supposed to be in town but she had to come back for sad reasons, but it was lucky for me. We capped the trip off by looking at the video of her Mom and Stepdad's wedding in 1987 which was pretty much the biggest heartbreaker you can imagine. Now I'm home and involved in the weight loss war with all the PDX fatties. I wish I had fatter friends around here to help compete with me. (0) comments
