On Saturday we went to see the Roller Derby for Gary's birthday. It was really fun. Except that at one of the intermissions (yeah there seemed to be a lot of intermissions) there was a fire show. You cannot leave the house in Asheville, NC without catching some kind of a damn fire show.

We went to this birthday party last wknd, and the dude had a bar made of ice.

Last night the guy who owns the Flying Frog made a special tasting menu for me, Michael, Mac, Ayana and Ayana's boyfriend. I knew it would be good, but it was fucking unreal. It was 6 courses and I was pretty much ready to die or explode by the end.

First: Behl Puri, which was this Indian puffed grain. It was with a tamarind sauce and a cilantro aioli
Second: Stuffed Oyster (not sure with what...I gave MP my oyster part but the stuffing was awesome)
Third: Blackened Kangaroo. Yes. Kangaroo. And right after I read this.

It was with pickled root vegetables and a basil aioli.

Fourth: Pork tenderloin ( a little raw for my terrors) with a poblano pepper sauce
Fifth: Kobe beef sliders with super thin french fries with truffle oil and parsley
Sixth: Lamb with a chutney that I couldn't force myself to eat
Dessert: Creme brulee.

Fucking unreal.
